biography
Isabella Minjoo Kim, an artist based in Los Angeles, blends her background in ceramic arts and jewelry design to create captivating sculptures and artworks. She studied Ceramic Arts at Ewha Womans University and Jewelry Design at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles. Her work has been featured in over 30 exhibitions and arts shows across cities like Spain, Paris, Tokyo, Seoul, Los Angeles, and Hong Kong.
Kim's work reflects her origin, past, and inner sanctum. Her work is closely aligned with abstract expressionism, yet she resists categorizing it strictly within any genre. Primarily using metals and mixed media materials, Kim finds particular fascination with the character of metal. It is the reflective and sparkling qualities of metal that deeply excite and inspire her. Creating art is a meditative and healing process for Kim. Delving into her inner self, exploring and expressing emotions and experiences, is integral to her creative journey. Through her artwork, Kim hopes to evoke a similar sense of introspection and healing in the audience, allowing them to connect with the deeper layers of their own psyche.
