Sunghoon Park's work delves into themes of life and death, capturing moments within this cyclical existence. Deeply inspired by reflections on love, separation, time, and mortality, his art is shaped by the inevitable reality of death, which has led him to view life as transient and nihilistic. Despite these heavy emotions, painting serves as his escape, allowing him to explore both conscious and unconscious realms, fostering self-reflection and personal growth. Through this process, he embraces human imperfection as a path toward uncovering life's meaning. His works reinterpret Surrealism while integrating elements of existentialism and Abstract Expressionism. Park's dynamic visual language, characterized by varied paint applications and material experimentation, emphasizes movement and exposes the artist’s actions during the painting process. This freedom generates "humor," unpredictable moments that reveal unconscious experiences and deepen his understanding of both himself and his art. Through his paintings, Park invites viewers to contemplate the meaning of existence and what it means to live as humans.
