biography
Sienna Sookhee Sim is a Korean artist whose paintings transform personal memories into abstract images inspired by nature. A graduate of Hongik University’s Graduate School of Fine Arts, Sim has held solo exhibitions across Korea, including at the Kim Hong-do Museum of Art and Stay Us Gallery. In these exhibitions, she explores the boundary between memory and the natural world, creating works that blend landscapes with her own interpretations. Her group showings at events like the Jeju International Gallery Art Festival and the Contemporary Female Artists Exhibition underscore her role in the Korean contemporary art scene.
Sim describes her art as a “visual voice” rooted in memories of landscapes she has experienced. She aims to capture the purity of these memories by combining fixed mental images with changing natural scenes. Through this blend, she creates abstract yet familiar images that resonate with her inner world. By translating her memories into colors and forms, Sim encourages viewers to connect with her reflections on nature, memory, and the delicate balance between reality and imagination.
